The upcoming destruction

We’re going to destroy the Gloworm. :) The glowworm is (a) misspelled because someone wanted to give it a funky spelling, but then gave it a name that doesn’t seem to need special instructions on how to spell, and (b) a really cool kiln invented by Tom Lad. Here’s a picture:

Its a fiber wood kiln that fires super fast. :D

Well, at this stage the kiln has gone through 12 firings, and the smoke-stack has done even more. Tom wants to completely rebuild it. So we’re sending it out with a bang.

You see, because it fires so fast, the wood ash doesn’t have enough time to do its normal thing and lay down ash in the form of glass all over the pots. So normally we insert ash using Tom’s Big Ash Gun, or T-BAG, if you will. This time, instead of using the T-BAG to insert ash, we’re going to use it to insert a mixed glaze in its powdered form. :)

This is going to be very fun, but very unpredictable. :D

So, an update.

I figure a month is long enough to go without one.

Paradise City was a disappointment, over-all. They didn’t bring in a lot of people, especially on Sunday (it was DEAD on Sunday.) Also, while all the crafts there were well made, I was really disappointed in how… predictable and bland they were. All the stuff there was in firmly established styles, and my stuff ended up being the most out there stuff.

I got lots and lots of complements, a few buyers, and a lot of useful (and not so useful) advice from fellow sellers. I met some nice people, like Mr. Steve’s who was across from me selling wood furniture.

Anyhow, I’m also in the process of moving across the country. I will soon be located in Oregon, which is good. I mean, the state is good. Real good. Gorgeous, and the city of Portland is way awesome! Of course, now I’m going to have to find my own studio. o_O I’ve been a wee bit spoiled at Dewclaw .

More later, lunch calls.
