The Article
The article from the Portland Mercury.
Here it is.
My article. Yeay!
———————————————————-
Now begins the period of second-guessing myself. I am determined to ignore myself for the following very good reasons:
Its publicity damnit! People are going to hear about my work, see my web-page, and hopefully come visit me on first Fridays.
It was complementary.
Sure, I don’t like that Tom Lad didn’t get mentioned when the glauwwyrm was talked about, but it wasn’t because I didn’t tell her about him. I did. I saw her write his name down.
I will not second guess myself. Damn it all to hell.
SWARM!
So the gallery likes my pieces and I like the gallery. Its a small gallery in the first half of what looks like used to be a garage. The garage door had windows, and that’s where they are putting my Jellies. The town its in, Astoria, has 23 cruse ships coming through this summer. The gallery is next to a used book store directly across the street from the sitting room of a busy (even in the middle of winter!) cafe. (The food at the cafe is quite good too, I checked that out. They made a rose out of whip cream for my hot chocolate! (simpler than it sounds but just a stunning effect.
)
The best part is… They want a swarm of my jellies. Right now they want 20 more of various sizes. *happy*
To a gallery
I’m taking some jellies to a gallery, to possibly get them sold there (by commission.) I think the jellies look pretty good, at this point. I’ve got more on the way too. Yeay. In the kiln that is cooling. Coooooolllliiiiiinng!
Kiln loaded
Firing tomorrow. Listened to a lot of NPR. Frost Vs. Nixon was good. All hail the mighty Sardine.
Finally…
I got myself a web-page. Its all about my art and process. Kinda’ fun. Go check it out:

In other news I’m finally getting a firing in on Monday. Since the medium Kiln is broken, I’ve not really been able to get in a firing since… well, December. Kinda’ a bummer, if you ask me (and since you’re reading this, consider yourself to have asked.
) The large and small kilns are manuel fires so I’m going to have to be there for 9 hours. Bleck. Early morning for me on Monday.
On Thursday I had a privet viewing of my sculpture for a reporter for the Portland Mercury. I won a review in the Christmas Charity Auction. Its the first time I’ve had my work out in Portland, and I’ve been getting some great responses. It kinda’ helps that the only space I have to store the pieces in is the front window of the Studio.
The article comes out in next week’s Mercury. I’ll post a link here if I can.
Back to business
Hey there. So I kinda’ dropped out in a post Christmas funk. Rather, around Christmas I had a damn good excuse not to do anything, and once I started not doing anything, it was hard to stop.
So now I’m back on my feet, so to speak. I now have a dance class near my studio, once a week, early in the morning, for the next two months. Yeay! I like dancing a lot, and I like the exercise, being in shape, looking hot, etc. The down side is that the studio isn’t open for practice ever, unless you’re willing to pay more money. I don’t have more money.
Boo.
However, this does mean that once a week I get into my studio way early in the morning.
It makes me feel better and more productive. Since the setting of the sun is like an off-switch for me when it comes to work, I think I’d like to get to the studio earlier in the day more often.
Sadly, this means that I somehow have to convince my husband to get up earlier in the morning as well. I’d cook breakfast to tempt him, but he doesn’t eat breakfast. :/ Durn.
I’ll think of something. In the mean time, more studio time, more time in the sun makes for a happier Meghan.
Now, if only the kiln would be fixed. (Or pay me to fix it! )
